Brambleberry proprietors Chris and Sherry Hardie.

Chris and Sherry Hardie have worked in the service and hospitality business for more than 35 years. They are passionate about making, enjoying and educating others about great wine. They are also passionate about planning and hosting glorious weddings and providing high quality romantic getaways.

Chris and Sherry moved to Chris’s family farm (which has been in the family since 1923) in 2006. Previously inhabited by our great Aunt Sara, the home has always been a place of welcome. We remodeled and added on to the original farmhouse in 2006 and built an addition for a winery and tasting room in 2013. A fantastic wedding pavilion and event center opened in 2018.

Chris is the CEO of 7 Rivers Alliance, a regional economic development organization. Prior to that he was the executive director of the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce and spent more than 30 years as a reporter, editor and publisher. He has received more than two dozen state and national journalism awards for his reporting and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He still writes a weekly column that is published in several newspapers. Together Chris and Sherry write a weekly wine column that has been published for more than 15 years.

Sherry was a salon owner and hair stylist for more than 25 years before work-related repetitive motion injuries forced her to find a second career that she loves. Working the winery tasting counter, being an innkeeper and a wedding officiant are all extremely rewarding as she enjoys meeting people and being a part of couples’ intimate and special day. She enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, spending time with nature, classical, Celtic, and classic rock music.

Chris and Sherry have stayed close to their farm roots, raising Scottish Highland cattle, Scottish Blackface sheep, chickens and other animals. With what little time they have off, Chris and Sherry visit wineries, antique shops and their children and grandchildren. They also have a yellow lab named Nessie and two cats named Lady Jane Gray and Raven (the pets are not in guest areas.)
